Vancouver English Centre normally has 35 to 45 regular English language classes, divided into 8 Grammar levels and 8 Conversation levels. Each level is sub-divided into 2 segments. We also offer a number of elective courses. These courses are briefly described below. You can find more detailed information at our main homepage.
Business Internship Program This program is designed for ambitious students and professionals who want to experience international business in Canada. Interns study intensive Business Communications in the morning and intensive Business Skills in the afternoon. After these courses are completed, interns are placed with companies and organizations to work as trainees. Click here for more information. Level 3 TOEIC Preparation Students review basic grammar, build vocabulary and develop reading and listening skills. Students also do some practice TOEIC tests. Level 4/5 TOEIC Preparation Students learn TOEIC test strategies and do numerous practice TOEIC tests. Level 6+ TOEIC Preparation Same as 4/5 TOEIC, but material covered is at a more advanced level. Material studied in TOEIC 4/5 is not repeated in 6+ TOEIC. Level 3 TOEFL Preparation Students review basic grammar, build vocabulary and develop reading and listening skills. Students also do some practice TOEFL tests. Level 4/5 TOEFL Preparation Students learn TOEFL test strategies and do numerous practice TOEFL tests. Level 6+ TOEFL Preparation Same as 4/5 TOEFL, but material covered is at a more advanced level. Morning Business English Topics include meeting negotiation, job search and interview skills, letter and memo writing, accounting and financial documents, telephone skills. Afternoon Business English Includes cultural communicators, business travel, ethics, organizational structure, marketing and sales, entrepreneurship , and import/export. Pronunciation This workshop helps students approximate native speakers' speech, reduce common pronunciation errors and develop more natural intonation and stress patterns. Afternoon Writing. Students learn technical and formal writing skills.
