Course Description
Introduction to TEFL
is for people with little or no experience teaching languages. The focus
is on teaching English to adults in a practical, efficient manner.
This course includes the following content:
Theory
Basic methodology for teaching:
- Speaking, listening, reading, writing grammar, pronunciation
- Comprehensive overview of the Communicative Approach.
Lesson Planning
- Basic lesson components
- Classroom Management
- Grammar for all levels
- Communication Skills
- Using media effectively
- Using games and activities
- Lesson planning practice
- TOEIC and TOEFL Preparation
- Curriculum Development
Practical Issues
- Peer Teaching
- Classroom Observations
- Job Search Skills

to TEFL)
TEFL Start Dates
can be found at the VEC web site.
The TEFL Certificate Program always begins the week immediately after
the Introduction to TEFL Program ends.
Prerequisites
- Introduction to TEFL
- Undergraduate degree
- Satisfactory standard of English.
- International students should also have one of the following:
- TOEFL 590
- Grade B Cambridge
- VEC Level 6B Average
