Teacher's Biography

Why did you become an ESL teacher?
In a previous teaching job, I met a lot of students from abroad who needed help using English. They inspired me to get my ESL teaching certification.

How long have you been teaching English?
Since 2001.

How long have you been teaching English at VEC?
Since 2002.

Have you taught in foreign countries? How long? Which country?
Not yet, but Mexico is on the agenda! And Japan / Korea too.

What was your major in university or college?
Education (Bachelor’s Degree) with a Science minor.

What do you like best about teaching?
Meeting people from all over the world! And learning some common phrases in different languages. The exposure to different cultures is awesome and helping students learn is very rewarding for me.

What is your favourite topic to discuss with students in your class?
Anything goes but I love talking about food.

What is your hobby?
Shopping, traveling, eating, going to the beach, baking, listening to music.

What advice do you have for new students?
When you are learning English, my advice is use it or lose it! And live it up! Study outside the classroom too. Woo hoo!
