I'm a dentist, and I took the Business Internship Program for eight weeks. Everybody thinks that this course is just for business people but I had the best experience here.
At the beginning, I learned different things like how to write letters, resumes, everything related to interviews, negotiations, meetings, marketing, and so on. All of these things will be helpful in the management of my dental office and any kind of job that I would have in the future.
Then, I did my practicum for one month in the dental office of Dr. Peter Andrews and Associates, which was magnificent. There, I could learn the most useful things for my major. I was helping the doctors, watching them, and learning about their new techniques, equipment, and procedures.
Also, they gave me videos, magazines, books, and journals to inform myself about the new materials and everything related to "updated" dentistry. In this way, I learned lots of technical terms, which allow me to read easily any dental book in English.
The staff at the office were very kind and friendly, and they always gave me their best, helping me to improve my English skills in different ways.
I'm really grateful to VEC for helping me to find this great opportunity in which I reached all of my objectives. Vancouver is a beautiful city and it was wonderful for me to know the way Canadian dentists operate every day and how they manage an office. This experience will be very important to study for my masters because everything comes in English. Now I'm able to read all the information that I need by Internet.
Thanks, Vancouver English Centre!
